PawPinion

From $179 ($179 Essential, $299 Complete)

DocOrbit's figures come from their own public pages, re-checked 13 October 2026. Their veterinary page states 24 to 48 hours and carries no price at all; their own FAQ says pricing depends on the case and the specialist matched to it, and that you see the exact price before you confirm. DocOrbit does publish prices for its separate HUMAN radiology service, from $20 for an AI read and from $60 for a radiologist, and those figures are sometimes quoted as if they were the veterinary price. They are not: that directory at docorbit.com/specialists lists MDs reading human scans. A cell marked Not published means we could not find that figure on their public pages. Prices and offerings change, and we re-check quarterly.

What actually differs

Two things. DocOrbit's veterinary service sits alongside a human radiology business; ours does animals only, across 9 specialties, so the specialist is matched to the discipline your pet's problem belongs to rather than to the image. And we publish the price: $179 or $299, before you start. DocOrbit's veterinary pricing appears once you begin a case.

When DocOrbit is the better call

If your question is specifically about reading an image, radiology is what they are built around and that focus is real.

What a PawPinion opinion contains

  • Whether the diagnosis holds up, and what else could explain the signs
  • Whether the proposed treatment is right for this pet
  • What the specialist would do next, and in what order
  • A separate letter written for your own veterinarian
  • Up to 3 follow-up questions to the specialist
  • A live video call with the specialist on the $299 Complete plan
24 to 48 hours from the point your own vet authorizes the consultation. You are not charged until then.

Common questions

What is the difference between PawPinion and DocOrbit?

Both put a board-certified specialist on your pet's records and return a written opinion. DocOrbit's veterinary service runs alongside a human radiology business and its veterinary pricing is shown once you start a case. PawPinion does animals only, across 9 specialties, and publishes the price up front: $179 for the written opinion, $299 with a live call.

How much does DocOrbit cost?

DocOrbit does not publish veterinary pricing on its public pages; the price is shown once you start a case. PawPinion is $179 for the Essential plan and $299 for Complete, stated before you begin.

Is PawPinion only for imaging questions?

No. We cover 9 specialties, including oncology, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, orthopedics, dermatology, pain management, pathology and emergency and critical care. The specialist is matched to the discipline your pet's problem belongs to.

How long does a PawPinion second opinion take?

24 to 48 hours from the point your own vet authorizes the consultation. You are not charged until that authorization comes through.

Do I need my own vet's approval?

In most states, yes. Your vet authorizes the consultation and stays the attending veterinarian. We email them, chase them if they do not answer, and your card is not charged until they say yes.
